„Mapping Design - a Design Method“
Mapping Design is a design method for people in space. It displays new design possibilities and links up approaches involving science and design. A cube is cut up into covers for the human body. In addition to garment covers, architectures, buildings, rooms for single people or rooms for many people can be created. Openings suggest the context of the application. The covers that are thus formed are able to enclose spaces and can be displayed. They are potential locations, demarcations in a space. They are housings and can be inhabited. They are linked and have a neighbourhood. Their belonging is inscribed, and yet the individual covers stand alone. Together they make up a whole, a large structure. If they are viewed from a distance, they are perceptible as a landscape; reminiscent of an urban space, of a city and they depict the Zeitgeist, the spirit of the age. Over time they change location, cover distances, can be assembled or can disintegrate. These shapes are utopian places, involving temporal processes and representing the future.
